About the Department

The Mathematics Department at IIT Palakkad fosters excellence in research and teaching, with strengths across pure and applied areas. It offers PhD (since 2017) and MSc (since 2020) programmes, and contributes to B.Tech and interdisciplinary M.Tech programmes. Faculty expertise includes Algebra, Analysis, Geometry, Topology, Probability and Statistics. PhD students are actively involved as teaching assistants in undergraduate and postgraduate courses, gaining valuable academic experience. The department conducts an annual symposium and several seminars including the Yukthibasa seminar series. It also runs outreach programmes, such as the Summer Training Programme in Mathematics (STPM), and contributes to other institutional programmes, including ScienceQuest and Math Circles.
