The MSc Mathematics program provides students with a strong mathematical foundation and also offers the opportunity to specialise in pure and applied mathematics, as well as to explore other interdisciplinary areas. The curriculum has 14 core courses and several electives which gives the students plenty of freedom to focus on the areas of their interest. Furthermore, the curriculum is choice based that allows students to choose their own path through the curriculum. Selected students will also have the option to pursue project(s) in place of some of the electives, helping them to gain hands-on training in a specific area. Students with a research aptitude who have completed three semesters in an MSc programme of IIT Palakkad have an option to upgrade their registration to a MSc + Master of Science (by Research) or MSc + PhD dual degree programme in IIT Palakkad. This curriculum will help graduates of this masters program to pursue careers in both academia and industry.
